Listening to this book is an evangelical experience of why Christians believe and how Christianity connects faith and reason. Having said that, the title would be more transparent if it included the word "Christian" and the listener more informed before taking up the work. This is not an academic overview of world religions, faith, and reason; it is a personal testimonial of the author's experience bringing the Bible and his faith in it to others, employing the Bible as a scholarly document of fact on which to ground reason. Ultimately, it is a convincing testimony in support of Christianity that, most likely, will engage Christians more than a wider listening audience. L.V.B. (c) AudioFile 2007, Portland, Maine
This thin primer has become a "classic" of contemporary evangelical Protestantism. Little was a popular evangelist on college campuses before his death in 1975. This book was read widely in the 1970s and now has been revised by his wife and republished. There is a stilted character to the reading. The choppiness may be due in part to the way the text was written, but McKeever still sounds like he's reading a manual. While his voice is clear, it's not as rich as a professional actor's. He generally sounds like an older fundamentalist minister giving a theology lesson. M.L.C. (c) AudioFile 2000, Portland, Maine
