Anyone who's wielded even a hammer and screwdriver will giggle and/or groan at Canadian author Harris' 49 episodes of fixing cars, homes, motorcycles, and more. Harris' tales of ""been there, done that"" could perhaps also be cautionary tales to wannabe or self-professed DIYers. On the other hand, they'll provoke head-nodding and chuckles. Harris' handyman adventures include what to do when the removal of a tree branch damages a car hood, or when your puppy chews . . . and chews and chews. What happens when the air conditioner is two inches wider than the window it's supposed to go in? Or when a newly laid hardwood floor starts to buckle? And stealing does happen, especially when there's no lock on the trailer. And so on. The word cheap in the title links to the end of each episode, where Harris explains (probably in Canadian dollars) the original estimate and the actual cost for each repair.
