There's a lot packed into this collection of 16 stories, an outgrowth of the Together Live storytelling event. The book's subtitle, "Essays on Courage, Desire, and Belonging," merely scratches the surface of the range of topics addressed in these essays. In essays of particular note, Austin Channing Brown explains why ambition is not a bad thing; Cameron Esposito shares her experience with the common adult fear of not fitting in; Maysoon Zayid laughs about her Valentine Day's horrors; and Sue Monk Kidd challenges women to live out loud. Don't skip the introduction by editor Walsh either. Most of the essays are read by their authors, which fills the audiobook with a wide array of voices, accents, and heartfelt emotions. VERDICT This is a powerful volume that will be in demand, whether for specific contributors or the inspiration provided by the essays.--Donna Bachowski, Grand Island, FL
