When Teens Pray

Gr. 9-12. These engrossing stories about the effect of prayer on young people's lives will find a ready audience. The stories, told mainly by teens themselves, are chock-full of examples that demonstrate prayer's power. In one, two girls who wanted to stop the violence in their school began kneeling in front of their lockers each morning to pray silently. Despite stares and snickers, and the outrage of some students who claimed that their actions violated the Constitution, the students persisted. Gradually other students began to join in, and for the first time in years, fighting in the school stopped, and students became interested in learning. At another school, Meet-You-at-the-Pole prayer sessions were initiated, during which students gathered at the flagpole to pray each morning before classes.
