The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

whovian111 - This book is about Arthur Dent, a man who's house is being destroyed to make way for a bypass. At about the same time the vogons, (aliens) are about to destroy Earth to make way for another bypass. Ford Prefect is Arthur's best friend who also happens do be an alien. They hitch a ride on the vogon ship and are thrown into space where against all improbabilities they are picked up by the Heart of Gold spaceship which is piloted by Zaphod Beeblebrox, president of the galaxy. Along with him is Trillian a human like Arthur. Together they go on a hilarious adventure across space. I absolutely love this book. It can be a little confusing but mainly it's easy to understand. There's great humor. I went on to read the rest of the series and am on book 3 and also watched the movie.
