The idea of an Easter tree, complete with rabbits and hens, just might be addictive to knitters of any age. Scandinavian clothing design team Arne and Carlos, authors of 55 Christmas Balls to Knit (2011) and Knitted Dolls (2012), document their new decorating trend for the spring with approximately 30 patterns to create for Easter balls and eggs to hang (albeit on a baby carriage or throughout the house), accompanied by a very skinny white rabbit and a brown Brahma-like hen. The ideas require very little yarn (the authors advise using wools from a knitter's stash) and not much time, especially if you're an experienced knitter. They advocate dressing the rabbit in a sweater (considering the spring weather in their region), and even create look-alike Faberg' eggs. Among the choices are an Easter ball with a skier, an egg with little tulips, a chick in an eggshell, or eggs with dots. Sometimes, with its full-page photographs and occasional flights of poesy and poetry, this resembles a well-planned children's book. For those with tons of yarn and time on their hands.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2013, American Library Association.)
