Lane's feel-good western romance, set in modern-day Texas, features Mia, the youngest child of Walter Ford, wealthy owner of the River Road Ranch. Her passion is horses, training and riding them in jumping competitions around the world. But she has a horse-related problem: her best friend died in a tragic accident, and the badly injured stallion she was riding was sold, but not to Mia. Having promised to look after Tex if anything happened, Mia finally found and bought the abused horse. But after Tex sends a ranch hand to the hospital, her father wants him destroyed or turned over to local horse whisperer Sam Mendes. Just back from a book tour and training demonstration, Sam isn't interested in the job until he gets a close look at the horse's pain and suffering, not to mention the concern in gorgeous Mia's eyes. As he works with Tex and struggles with his sizzling attraction for Mia, Sam also has to get past his own torment over his ex-fiancee's betrayal.
