Reisz revisits her Rita-winning Original Sinners erotic romance series in this fantastic prequel. In 1989 France, Kingsley, a spy for an agency so secret it has no name, goes on a mission to a house where the women are in charge and the men submit to them. Though he initially goes there to find his colonel’s nephew, he enjoys himself so much that his thoughts return to the chateau again and again. The madame of the house tests his limits and eventually issues him a challenge: Kingsley will have to face the love he’s held onto throughout the years for the man who first brought him down the path of erotic submission. Readers who are drawn to BDSM will find this a wonderfully written exploration of it. The characters are strong, and there is enough mystery that the twists feel well earned. Reisz’s novel is highly recommended to both new readers and those who are already familiar with Kingsley’s world. Agent: Sara Megibow, KT Literary.

As part of an "unofficial" reconnaissance mission to locate his colonel's missing nephew, the lieutenant enters a mysterious sex cult that worships Pauline R�age's The Story of O and sees women as masters to be served by men. A true masochist, Kingsley fits in immediately and finds himself taken to new heights by group leader Madame's keen intuition and elegant sadism. Can one night with Madame drive the only man Kingsley's ever loved from his mind once and for all? Reisz's delightfully sensual language will thrill readers, as will the titillating intrigue of Madame's challenges for the eager-to-serve lieutenant. Lush descriptions of the beautiful monster who haunts Kingsley's dreams blend seamlessly with delightful earthly sexploits in a novel that is simultaneously weighty, sensual, and humorous. VERDICT A masterly and rich contribution to the erotic thriller genre. Highly recommended.
