The Kaiser siblings may be known as heroes of Nibiru after foiling a plan to unleash a bioweapon on the planet, but they know better: their mother was involved and they almost carried it out. Gaia and Titan were not so lucky; both planets are uninhabitable, and the survivors are refugees. Scorpia, restless from living planet-bound for months, wants to secure a ship and return to their smuggling operation before the truth comes out. Corvus, experiencing post-traumatic stress from the war on Titan, longs to stay and give their younger siblings a better life. They unite when the Nibiran council asks them to return to storm-ravaged Gaia and search an underground alien research facility where the bioweapon may have originated. What terrible truths they find puts the entire system at risk. This satisfying sequel has more of what made Fortuna (2019) such an excellent read: emotional weight, thrilling action, empathetic characters, and a complex plot that raises the stakes both for the five-planet system and the Kaiser family. This series deserves a wider readership.
