The first Sarah Weston novel, The Tenth Saint (2012), was a lively archaeological thrillernot particularly original (historical-conspiracy fans would have seen most of it before) but always entertaining. This second installment in the series should appeal to readers who enjoyed the first. Weston, the British archaeologist, and her American partner, Daniel Madigan, are working a dig in Saudi Arabia. They find an ancient scroll that appears to contain some sort of riddle (and seems to be written in a language that should have been unknown in that geographical area at that time in history), but before they can get too far into deciphering it, the scroll is stolen, which doesn't stop our two heroes, who embark on a dangerous quest to get it back. But someone else is after the scroll, too, and he really isn't thrilled with the idea that a couple of archaeologists might get to it first. Fans of thrillers with an archaeological theme should have a good time.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2013, American Library Association.)
