The year is 2043, and America is struggling under the weight of its aging and sickly population. The country awaits a ruling by Judge Santiago on whether the elderly population should be euthanized to make room for the young. The battle rages on both sides of the debate, and soon the judge is receiving death threats. The second volume in the authors' dystopian trilogy (after Fatherless) explores the question of what is better for society, "making it easier for young people to marry and raise children and foster a society that welcomes the wisdom and support of our elderly...[or] pressure them toward the grave." VERDICT As founder of the socially conservative Focus on the Family organization, evangelical Christian author Dobson has his many fans, and this volume might also interest readers interested in examining these ethical dilemmas.
