World-renowned extreme skier Ulmer takes readers on a high-flying ski jump straight into the depths of fear. Having often performed life-defying jumps and ski tricks, Ulmer has a good deal of experience working with fear. She now educates and empowers people by teaching them the steps to own their fear. Ulmer writes that denying, avoiding, repressing, and even attempting to control negative emotions causes major ramifications in one's health, mentally and physically. People are doing a disservice to themselves in trying to repress their negative emotions such as jealousy, anger, and unworthiness, etc.; behind all of these emotions lies fear. Ulmer states readers should instead feel all emotions in order to hear what these emotions are truly saying. Fear can be a great motivator and it's an often-neglected resource. Although the advice is simple in principle, it can get lost in the often monotonous and overdrawn explanations. VERDICT For readers who have a strong motivation to change and want an out-of-the-box strategy.--Melissa Keegan, Ela Area P.L., Lake Zurich, IL
