Tyne Jensen is a young black woman, a budding journalist who is about to find herself between jobs and a long time between relationships. At her sister's wedding, she meets David Carvelli, a handsome young architect whose dissolving partnership threatens his career. David feels an attraction, while Tyne feels repelled; both are powered by strange dreams they have been having of a forbidden love and passionate pursuit that leads to murder.
