Baraka is a Christian hip-hop artist who touches on hot button topics like racism in his songs, sometimes choosing strong language that causes controversy. This book shares his interpretation of Christianity, discussing his faith and how it fits into society today. He writes extensively about his faith in Christ, what it means to him, and his own view of the way life should be lived. He never comes across as preachy, but rather as a friend trying to let readers in on something that could positively impact their lives. As in his songs, he discusses politics and issues like racism, and explains how he felt constrained as a Black man in white Christian spaces and thus made his own. Baraka stresses the importance of our stories, as the stories we learn when we're young can shape our entire lives, and our work. Work is not just something that provides income, but is everything we do to glorify our creator. Relevant from both a Christian and a secularly political perspective, this timely book is a must-read.
