A Dog's Way Home

Ann Marie Lee is the voice of Bella, a puppy of indeterminate breed who was found under the crawl space of a building by "her person," Lucas. Lee's youthful-sounding voice matches the thoughts and actions of the exuberant puppy who's eager to do her job of being a good dog and comforting people at the veteran's hospital where Lucas works. But trouble arises in the form of an angry dogcatcher who insists that Bella is a pit bull, a breed that is illegal in Denver. Bella ends up in a foster home far from Denver--and runs away. Lee's narration captures her determination to find Lucas as she travels hundreds of miles over two years.
