Caleb Beachy returns to the Amish lifestyle he abandoned when he went to live in the English world. Now back home and working for his father, he finds that their relationship has become contentious. He struggles with whether or not he belongs in this world after all and if his faith in God's grace will ever be restored. At the same time he reacquaints himself with Josie Yoder, who is now a grown woman--and an attractive one at that. Josie holds out hope that she can heal Caleb and show him that the grace of God was always with him. As romance blossoms, so does the guilt Caleb holds for his actions during his absence, making him unsure if he can or should return Josie's love. VERDICT The prodigal son returns to find solace and discovers unexpected love. Fans of Amish romances, especially those by Beverly Lewis, will be swept away by this inspiring tale of healing and hope; the well-developed characters and colloquial language give a true flavor of Amish life.
