The crocuses are in bloom (in the snow), the Chatterbox CafÄ nearly ran out of coffee, and the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Responsibility has a new minister. So goes the newest "News From Lake Wobegon." For close to 40 years, Garrison Keillor's easy delivery, immediately recognizable cadence, and uniquely American voice and observations have graced public radio. Sure, "A Prairie Home Companion" features wonderful guest stars and music, but from week to week what we really want to hear is Keillor relate his mythical news, which always sounds so personal and spontaneous. With his decades of experience in radio, Keillor proves a master behind the microphone, ably creating an intimacy with listeners, who will feel as if they are sitting down for a private talk with an old friend. Though some stories pack more of a punch than others, listeners will find the collection and another trip to Lake Wobegon enjoyable and full of idiosyncratic laughs.
