Award-winner Whitlow blends legal drama and spiritual thrills in an intensely good read. Amy Clarke, legal secretary by day and writer by night, gathers inspiration for her books from her vivid dreams, which she considers private. But as she begins writing her newest novel, the dreams begin to change. What was once just between Amy and God is now thrust dramatically into her everyday life. When she finds herself drawn into a major case at the firm, Amy struggles to balance her job, her writing, and her family. Each area of her life presents its own challenges, and Amy's dreams are just vague enough to keep her on edge all the time. While she trusts that her visions are from God, Amy has a difficult time knowing how to reconcile what she sees as truth with her desire to behave appropriately. Any woman facing the demands of work and family will relate to Amy's life. The excitement and vivid spirituality Whitlow generates, however, are what will keep readers turning the pages.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2013, American Library Association.)
