William Shatner is one great storyteller! There's no question in anyone's mind (especially his) that he's is a star in every part of show business. His TV work includes "Star Trek," "T.J. Hooker," "Rescue 911," "Priceline.com," and "Boston Legal." He's made seven STAR TREK films and acted in or directed many others. And he's been active in theater and music. This audio presentation of his memoir is as diverse as the man himself. His narration is delivered in his familiar style, full of sincerity (whether real or acted), rich humor, drama, and pathos. One cannot help but laugh when he laughs and feel empathy when he relates sad episodes in his life. Every word in this audio presentation provides the listener with a superlative William Shatner moment. M.R.E. (c) AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine

William Shatner is best known for his role as Captain Kirk on the TV sci-fi series "Star Trek." In this tell-all autobiography he exposes the tragedies and triumphs of his career and private life. Both fascinating and frustrating, Shatner whines his way through detailed accounts of his feud with co-star Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock), Nimoy's alcoholism, and the heartbreak of his own alcoholic wife's death. The biggest flaw in Shatner's presentation is his tendency to mumble so that the listener loses the last sentences of his stories, which he often interrupts with references to his product-pushing website. A few laughs and a heavy dose of the trials of an actor's life make this work interesting, but Shatner's reading doesn't do it justice. M.T.B. (c) AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine
