Michael Pritchard adequately narrates this account of the five wars in the Crimea over the past century. While the focus of the work is on events in Crimea during WWII, Forczyk gives some much needed context to the history of Russian dominance in the region by detailing the events that brought Soviet power there. The book ends with Russia's most recent annexation of Crimea. Prichard's staccato reading works for most of the text--his words are clear, and his voice resonates well. However, those familiar with the Russian language may find that his pronunciation of names and terms grates on the ears. His German, while better than his Russian, is also distracting. Still, most folks should like this performance. M.T.F. © AudioFile 2015, Portland, Maine
