Although we are familiar with an ongoing discussion about "the beauty myth" in the broader secular culture, it is rare that an ordinary woman, much less a Christian one, will confide her discomfort in her own body in print. Teacher and conference leader Cannon suggests that it is the devil--quite literally--in collusion with society, that causes all of us to despise the handiwork God loves, and she shows that we ought to silence the negative voices that prevent us from taking effective steps to honor our bodies. VERDICT Cannon's easy and humorous style is a great introduction for readers who may need her important message of tough love; a godsend for Christian women everywhere.
