AudioFile Magazine
Tim Cahill has been lost in several ways in Yellowstone National Park, located only 50 miles from his Montana home--lost geographically, lost in thought, lost in astonishment--and he considers all of them in this essay on his experiences in the park. This is not a tourist guide, he stresses, as he recommends several such books. Michael Prichard reads with a Walter Winchell-style rat-a-tat-tat that works best in moments of excitement or dry humor. An especially effective section tells of the dangers when tourists get too close to nature, trying to take snapshots of moose, bison, and grizzly bears. Cahill's aim is to educate listeners about the best ways to explore scenic areas. J.A.S. (c) AudioFile 2004, Portland, Maine
