The TCP/IP protocol suite underlies Internet traffic yet remains a mystery to most people. While the majority of existing guides are sorely outdated, both of these titles include discussions of the new IPv6. The thorough and platform-independent TCP/IP Guide addresses network administrators, students, and others needing a detailed reference to current protocols. Nicely organized, from an introduction to networking through administration and troubleshooting, the book clearly explains each topic with no assumption of prior knowledge or experience. Highly recommended for all larger libraries. For intermediate users, Routing TCP/IP addresses CCIEs (Cisco Certified Internetwork Experts), network administrators, and engineers needing to understand TCP/IP routing protocols; it includes case studies, review questions, and exercises to help readers prepare for the CCIE exam or otherwise use the title for self-study. While examples and discussions are Cisco-specific, content is generally applicable to any platform. A clear reference for large public libraries and academic libraries serving computer science programs.
