As a concise study of the biblical book of Nehemiah, REBUILDING THE REAL YOU tightens the narrative to focus on the similarities between Nehemiah the man and the work of the Holy Spirit. Hayford effectively eliminates Nehemiah's seemingly tedious lists without denying their worth but brings an overly spiritualized gloss to the text. Greg Whalen narrates energetically and gives individual voices to each character, having a more earthy voice than Hayford and giving the text more of the feel of a story than is customary in a religious discussion. However, he seems to demonstrate a lack of familiarity with Bible basics by referring to individual Psalms as chapters for half the book before correcting himself. S.M.M.
