Gr 5-8-Gracepearl, the daughter of a cook, has been feeling increasingly restless as she approaches her 16th birthday. Dreams of desperate people imploring her to help them haunt her and persuade her that her future will lead her away from her isolated island home. Each summer, the 12 branches of the Royal Order of Bark send their sons to Miramore for training in the charming arts, and this year, for the first time, they will be allowed to marry anyone of their choosing, royal or not.
