After ten years in a relationship, Delia is ready for marriage and a family. Wanting to move things along, she proposes, only to find out her boyfriend has been cheating on her. Needing space and time to straighten out her upended life, she quits her job and moves 300 miles away to live with her best friend in London. Delia starts a new job and begins to think things are looking up--until she meets a mysterious journalist, Adam, who seems to have it in for her and her new boss. Now Delia must figure out who is trustworthy and who is not, all while trying to rediscover who she is and what risks in life are worth taking. VERDICT The likable and quirky characters in best seller McFarlane's (You Had Me at Hello) charming story of romance and love will keep the pages turning and have the reader laughing out loud. Delia's quest to be the hero in her own story is full of exciting plot twists and hilarious situations. This is a witty read for those who enjoy a charming heroine and a happy ending and essential for fans of Sophie Kinsella and Jojo Moyes.--Kristen Calvert Nelson, Marion Cty. Pub. Lib. Sys., Ocala, FL

British author McFarlane follows Here's Looking at You (2014) with another clever, funny tale of redemption and romance. First Delia discovers that her boyfriend of 10 years is having an affair, then she quits her soul-sucking job at the city council communications office. She leaves Newcastle to move in with her best friend in London and gets a PR job. But just as she is starting to rebuild her life, she gets tricked into revealing her boss's shady practices and secret clients to Adam, an investigative reporter. Delia and Adam become friends and more, but she is unsure if he is using her or if the spark is real. Plus, her ex is trying to win her back. As the pressure builds, Delia rediscovers the Fox, the fiery comic-book alter ego she created as a student, and now, finally, she is able to apply the Fox's boldness to her real life. McFarlane muddles things a bit with subplots, but Delia's charm and determination shine throughout this enjoyable tale of self-definition.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2015, American Library Association.)
