In this sequel to Recruits, twins Sean and Dillon Kirrell, having honed their transport skills as interplanetary travelers, run afoul of a secret government group intending to use their powers to conquer other planets. The boys must make choices that could destroy their universe. Locke (the pen name of Davis Bunn) crafts a fast-moving sf thriller that questions what is worth fighting for.

After being unlawfully arrested for using their transit powers (essentially, teleportation) to rescue a politician's kidnapped nephew, brothers Dillon and Sean Kirrell find themselves with a decision to make: help the Human Assembly unravel the faction responsible for their unjust arrest, or walk away. Their choice could prevent the faction from taking control of the Assembly's planets. While Sean chooses to stay behind, Dillon's mission to help protect the Assembly's jurisdiction lands him right in the middle of a secret government unit of transiters trying to do the same. Logan, Vance, and Nicolette, also called ghost-walkers, are leading the fight to protect a valuable and dangerous material mined on planet Aldwyn from falling into the hands of rebels. Ownership of that material could mean ownership of the Assembly's planets. The two groups must come together or risk the Assembly falling into a war it cannot win. Locke (Recruits, 2017), a pseudonym for Christian-fiction writer Davis Bunn, weaves multiple exciting narratives, connecting them in unexpected ways, in this fast-paced novel about war, family, and government secrets.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2017, American Library Association.)
