Labeled the Beast and feared throughout the land, Connor MacLerie, now laird of his clan, needs an heir, and for that he needs a bride. But with his reputation for cruelty and the rampant belief that he had killed his first wife for not pleasing him, finding a willing lass will not be easy. So an unwilling one must do. Jocelyn MacCallum, outB-spoken and occasionally defiant, is not exactly what Connor had expected, but she is exactly what he needs. A hero plagued by guilt and regret and a heroine courageous enough to love him eventually resolve all issues and find happiness and the answer to a tragic mystery in this lusty tale of 14th-century Scotland. Laird Connor MacLerie needs a new wife. However, since many in Scotland believed that he played a role in the mysterious death of his first wife, there is a distinct dearth of women willing to wed him. Now in order to save her brother, who has been taken hostage by Connor, and her clan, who desperately needs the food and men Connor offers as an additional wedding bonus, Jocelyn MacCallum agrees to marry the "Beast of the Highlands." As Jocelyn sets about earning a place for herself in her new home, she learns more about her enigmatic new husband. Soon what began as a reluctant marriage of convenience becomes something quite different--and far more passionate. A sharp-tongued and sharp--witted heroine clashes romantically with a dark and dangerously sexy hero in Brisbin's latest captivating medieval romance. Expertly laced with danger and sweetened with sensuality, " Taming" " the" " Highlander" is an absolute delight. (Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2006, American Library Association.)
