The year is 1906. Lilly Hart lost her husband two years ago and is determined to leave her in-law's home and start a life for herself and her young son. She takes a summer job cooking at Lake Manawa. For their part, her in-laws find the atmosphere completely unsuitable for their grandchild and aspire to remove him from the situation. Then a charming stranger intercedes, Though she's grateful, Lilly is not about to get involved again. VERDICT This humorous entry in the wildly popular "Lake Manawa Summers" series features a breezy writing style and entertaining characters. Recommended to readers who enjoy romantic humor, like those by Deeanne Gist.
