The six reasons people fall in love are first impressions, compatibility, marketability equilibrium, ego, the need to mend gender differences, and great physical/emotional sex. Though Lowndes presents her ideas with memorable examples and true-sounding principles, her reading is confusing. She's glib and overconfident about these admittedly manipulative prescriptions, and yet it's obvious that she's sensitive about the needs that draw people together and the vulnerabilities that, if not respected, can end a promising connection before it has a chance.
