Gr 5-9-Fans of the series will be clamoring for this action-packed installment, which begins with an explosion and seldom slows down from there. Will, Chester, and Elliott continue to fight the Styx, a malevolent subterranean race that plots the destruction of the "Topsoilers." The Styx have instituted "the Phase," in which they will use humans as incubators for eggs-destroying the humans involved and unleashing powerful killers on the rest of the population. Uncertainty plagues Will's crew as loyalties may be shifting. Newcomers will need to start at the beginning of the series, but fans will enjoy this latest helping of excitement, action, and gore.-Hayden Bass, Seattle Public Library, WA
