Grades 4-7 Looking for career advice? These books in the Bright Futures Press: Emerging Tech Careers series (8 titles) give young readers glimpses into a variety of high-tech jobs and how to prepare for them. The text provides an overview of each job, highlighting exciting things that people in that line of work get to do. Careers in Wearable Electronics follows artificial-intelligence programmers, data analysts, and project managers. Additional features invite readers to Imagine It! (carry out a related activity) and Dig Deeper! (do online research or activities, using URLs for outside websites). A final feature discusses the requirements for each job. Adequate but bland stock photos illustrate each page. Some of the books address readers directly in an enthusiastic, personal voice throughout, while others use a more neutral but still engaging third-person voice. Likewise, in some volumes, the career-preparation features focus largely on formal, college-level education. In others, the focus is more on what young readers can do now to start preparing for a particular career.
