Gr 3-5-Dramatic, high-quality color photos highlight this fact-filled set on renowned international and U.S. structures. The photos emphasize perspective, making the enormous size of these marvels even more impressive. Short sentences contribute to easy, fast-paced reading; unfamiliar vocabulary appears in bold. Construction histories and materials are noted, as are design elements and functions. Unsurprisingly, numbers feature prominently in each title, as pertinent statistics relating to a structure (height, cost, quantity of materials used, number of floors, etc.) appear on most pages; some whopping figures may be challenging to understand. A concluding "More Facts" list in each volume provides extra interesting tidbits of information. VERDICT The conversational tone and broad range of structures and their locations make this set a fine introduction to these wonders. For report writers and browsers. The International Space Station and The World Trade Center have broadest appeal.
