Preschool-G Little kids curious about where their clothes come from might have some of their questions answered by this entry in the How Is It Made? series. Avoiding more complicated components, such as polyester or acrylic fibers, the text focuses solely on cotton and wool. The book's large, full-color photos, including a cotton field and cotton gin, sheep shearing, and fibers being spun in a factory, primarily show how cotton and wool are harvested, cleaned, and spun into yarn. Only one spread covers how yarn is used to make sweaters, and though the photo depicts knitting by hand, the text accurately explains, machines knit most sweaters. With large fonts, simple sentences, and highlighted key terms, this makes a helpful connection from plants and animals to the clothes kids wear every day.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2017, American Library Association.)
