Grades 4-6 The History's Mysteries series offers short presentations on historical topics where the facts are unknown, disputed, or subject to different interpretations. Each short chapter (two, four, or six pages in length) introduces a different topic. The many color illustrations, mainly photos in some volumes, but augmented with period paintings, prints, and maps in others, show up well on the glossy pages. Short sidebars appear throughout the book, providing additional facts as well as conjectures. The Curse of King Tut's Tomb tells of the discovery of the young pharaoh's tomb, the subsequent rumors of a curse, and the motivation of journalists who published them. While the books' conclusions are reasonable, they leave some wiggle room for readers who choose to ignore reason.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2015, American Library Association.)
