Grades 3-7 This book's intent is to not only inspire young business-minded readers to think about future career options but to compel them to make themselves into entrepreneurs now. A basic definition of entrepreneurship is found in the introduction, along with a time line dating from the first systems of barter in ancient cities to modern, publically traded companies. Funny comic strips, charts, and caricatures illustrate sometimes complex business concepts in an age-appropriate manner. Quotes from plenty of admirable entrepreneurs, from Jeff Bezos to Ross Perot, are used to support the text. After each chapter, there are exercises for budding young businesspeople to complete, such as time-management calendars, prototype plans, and industry analysis. Practical skills like nonverbal communication and digital literacy are explained, along with philosophical issues of doing business. A glossary in the sidebar on each page defines numerous unfamiliar words, and QR codes provide immediate links to videos and web resources throughout the text.
