Grades 3-6 Using full-page color photographs and concise, informative writing, the Ecosystems Inside Out series offers readers an overview of biomes around the globe. Each volume begins with an introduction to the concept of ecosystems before moving on to examine specific examples within the featured biome. The wildlife, vegetation, climate, and terrain of each are joined by Eco Up Close fact boxes that highlight a specific plant or animal and Eco Focus bubbles that pose ecological questions to prompt critical thinking. Islands Inside Out begins with the Galapagos before examining examples of barrier, coral, and volcanic islands, among others. Invasive species, changing sea levels, and climate change are the ecological trouble-spots here. Each book ends with an activity, usually requiring adult supervision; a glossary; and additional resources.
