Preschool-Grade 2 The four books in the Many Ways series (4 titles) present simple, positive introductions to topics that are integral to children's lives: families, feelings, homes, and parents. Each colorful page features a short sentence or two, illustrated with an attractive photo. Across the board, the books create a positive, inclusive tone. From the racial diversity apparent in the photos to the family configurations described in the text, readers will find many other differences apparent, without a sense that one is better than another. Overlapping somewhat with types of families portrayed in Families, such as single parents and same-sex parents, Parents also includes pages on adoption, foster parenting, military deployment, and activities that kids and parents share. An upbeat, appealing series, well suited to reading aloud in the classroom.
