Each colorful page features a short sentence or two, illustrated with an attractive photo. Across the board, the books create a positive, inclusive tone. From the racial diversity apparent in the photos to the family configurations described in the text, readers will find many other differences apparent, without a sense that one is better than another. Homes introduces a variety of living situations. While many families live in houses, others live in apartments, in trailers, or stay in shelters or with relatives temporarily. An upbeat, appealing series, well suited to reading aloud in the classroom.
