My First Fact File Weather

Grades K-2 This graphics-rich introduction to all things weather is part of the My First Fact File series (4 titles), offering two-page spreads on topics ranging from broad concepts (the atmosphere, biomes, climate change) to particulars (clouds; snow, sleet, hail, and frost). Brief paragraphs, quick facts, 10 simple experiments, quizzes, and charts and diagrams accessible for young audiences are strewn about full-page illustrations, creating busy but not overwhelming visual displays. Although billed as a fact file, the accompanying text also offers basic explanations of processes such as the water cycle or how fronts develop. Though not really suitable for sharing with large groups due to the relatively small font and pastel-hued art work, this is still a nice supplement for weather units and STEM collections.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2019, American Library Association.)
