Biodiversity Eco Facts

Grades 4-7 Splashy, graphics-rich pages make up this entry in the Eco Facts series (6 titles) and offer a wide variety of facts about the importance of plant and animal biodiversity, as well as factors threatening biodiversity, such as climate change, poaching, and invasive species. Each two-page spread focuses on one element of the topic, and inset boxes and graphic elements scattered around the pages offer more detail. For instance, the spread on climate change covers ocean acidification, rising sea levels, and threats to ecosystems when shifting seasons affect a species migration. Occasional "Focus On" spreads home in on specific topics, such as the ivory trade and successful efforts to protect bald eagles.
