Walker’s heart-pounding seventh Black Knights Inc. contemporary (after Hell for Leather) is her best yet. Abby Thompson, daughter of the U.S. president, has long held herself responsible for the bombing that killed her mentor, Rosa Soto. She’s also helplessly in love with Rosa’s twin brother, Carlos. After his beloved sister is killed, Carlos ditches med school and signs up with the Army Rangers. Then he joins the black ops organization known as Black Knights Inc. Nicknamed “Steady,” he can remove a bullet from a team member with ease—but he can’t keep from loving Abby. While Abby is at a horticultural conference in Kuala Lumpur, militant radicals kidnap her. She knows Carlos will rescue her—if she can stay alive until he gets there. Deft plotting and characterization pull the reader through the story at breakneck speed while subtly setting up the next installment in the series. The always impressive Walker has outdone herself. Sweeping contemporary romance has been the motorcycle club craze, which has its outposts in military romance. What would be more natural than for a group of men who served together to continue to work as a team, using a motorcycle shop as a cover for elite special ops? In the eight books in the "Black Knights, Inc." series (two more titles are projected for 2017), Frank Knight and his band of mercenaries still do the kind of work they were trained for--this time only occasionally under the auspices of U.S. authorities. And while they fend off bad guys and seek out international trouble spots, they find women who see through their masks of impassive badassery to the strength and protectiveness underneath.

In Walker's (Hell for Leather, 2014) latest, Carlos Steady Soto is one of the Black Knights, Inc., a special-ops group that masquerades as a motorcycle club and deploys only on orders of the president. He is in Malaysia helping the Secret Service guard the president's daughter, Abby. Carlos and Abby have had an unacknowledged thing for each other for years, but when all but one of her Secret Service team is killed and she is abducted, he extracts her from the militants' camp in the jungle, and the close quarters of their hair-raising escape force intimacy and revelations. Despite some amazing sex during a tropical rainstorm in a remote village and the arrival of a SEAL team just in time, it may take a presidential order to get them together for good because of Abby's guilt over what happened to Carlos' twin sister.
