PreS-K-A bored bear cub discovers that if he is patient enough, something will happen. While he's flopped on the grass on the edge of the forest, he notices the animal-shaped clouds above him. He enjoys feeling the wind ruffling his fur and listening to the birds singing. To his right is a mole looking for a friend, and to his left is a rabbit who watches him play pretend. By the time he goes back home to his mom, he has learned what to do when he feels bored: "Nothing, absolutely nothing." As the bear (who has the body shape of Winnie-the-Pooh) rests in the grass, more details are added to the forest scenes. An acorn-carrying ant crawls by his feet, a nest appears in the tree above him, and stars and shadows come out at night under the light of a full moon. Wilson's artwork captures views from high to low in the forest and from an inquisitive bear's perspective. VERDICT Preschoolers will take comfort in knowing boredom is temporary.-Tanya Boudreau, Cold Lake Public Library, Alta.
