Gr 5-8-An up-to-date and comprehensive look at Greece, with a great deal of information packed into its pages. The layout has plenty of white space-a result of the use of a smaller than usual print for elementary-grade books on countries. There are a lot of sidebars and large, fresh, and interesting photographs. Several maps, a "key facts" page, and footnotes on sources are included (although the latter's placement at the back of the book and not on the bottom of the pages might be confusing to some users). The text is businesslike and informative; it does not pretend to be chatty and lively, although it reads well. Uncommon facts are included as are excellent summaries of several of the Greeks' main concerns: their dislike of the Macedonian name for the country that was part of the former Yugoslavia, their problem with migration of their youth, the Albanian immigration, etc. This attractive book deserves serious consideration.-Judith Constantinides, formerly at East Baton Rouge Parish Main Library, LA
