Gr 9 Up-The teen years are filled with many firsts-and feelings of self-consciousness are a given. The authors use a light, youthful tone to offer heartfelt advice and encourage readers to embrace their personal bests. Each title explores the psychological aspects and common misconceptions behind the titular topic along with the influence of technology, common courtesy, and manners. The necessity of self-care is an underlying message, especially when dealing with negative encounters. Many constructive methods and coping strategies are provided throughout this series. While putting a positive spin on even harmful circumstances, the authors focus on the value of personal introspection. The reality of more serious subjects, such as teenage drinking, is not glossed over. VERDICT An honest and helpful exploration of many significant teenage milestones. Consider for YA collections.
