PreS-Gr 1-This bilingual series introduces children to familiar pets. Each title begins with a few tips for adults to support children's literacy at home. Each animal friend is described in rhythmic language that invites children to join in the song. The lyrics and sheet music are included at the end of each book, and the audio version can be easily accessed by scanning the QR code with a mobile app. The mixed media artwork is very attractive. Unfortunately, the Spanish is stilted and forced, as it has to fit into the musical measure of the English version. The reader of the audio version speaks accented Spanish; and the singer's Spanish is accented enough that some words will not be understood by Spanish speakers, unless they are also reading the text. VERDICT An unnecessary addition for most collections.
