Gr 4-6-A surprising amount of topics are covered in this series about American-style football. Field touches on the basics of the game, with tips for readers looking to hone their football skills. Championships focuses on the history of the NCAA, NFL, CFL (Canadian Football League), and EFAF (European Federation of American Football) and their separate championships. Gridiron Greats and Touchdown illustrate the sport through its stars and history, respectively. Some oversimplifications gloss over the finer details (for instance, Field says penalties can be up to 15 yards but they can be more in the case of a pass interference call). VERDICT Not a blowout winner, but worthwhile if your football collection has a losing record.
