It was one thing for Stephen Chesterfield, the Earl of Whitmore, to abandon Emily after their marriage for months on end, but it is a completely different matter to pretend they were never married in the first place. Emily supposes she will have to forgive Stephen, though, since he seems to be suffering from some kind of amnesia. With Emilys skillful nursing, Stephen gradually begins to recover his memory only to discover that someone might not want him to remember exactly what happened after their wedding. Willingham neatly folds equal measures of danger and desire into her latest historical, and the snippets from Emilys cookbook that open each chapter add an extra dash of culinary spice to her well-crafted romance.
