This fine retelling of the rescue, the veterinary care, and the search for homes for the stray cats will appeal to beginning readers. The attractive page layout has large, realistic watercolor illustrations, pleasing type, and ample white space. The color photograph of the recuperated, though scarred, Scarlet with her new owner on the last page is an endearing ending.
