[Editors' Note: The following is a combined review with FOR MARRIED WOMEN ONLY.]--Mirron Willis's narration style has a formal edge in these compact productions: His clarity and intensity are arresting. Yet he also connects with listeners with his thoughtful phrasing and palpable focus on delivering helpful advice. The biblical marriage roles that Pastor Tony Evans describes take on secular appeal because of the message that predominates--that a good marriage requires giving from both husband and wife. The traditional roles taught here still involve the man being the leader in the home and the woman being more delicate and submissive. But with the help of Willis's inviting tone, these opinions sound less doctrinaire, more respectful to everybody. These splendid audiobooks don't preach; they affirm the mutual obligations marriage requires and encourage everyone to help his or her partner become more fulfilled and evolved. T.W.
